This paper seeks to compare freedom of the press in Colombia and Canada in terms of legal culture . It analyzes how free public debate became part of the legal cultures in both nations. To the degree that this entailed a role for the press, this paper outlines a broad historical description of the influence of the press in the political and cultural development of both nations.
